Make your trip to NOLA one of a kind!
New Orleans, NOLA, “Naw-Lins” or New Orleeeens. Regardless of what you call it, its associated with raging parties, delicious fried foods, cajun, and beads. I have been twice, and both times it has shown to be a wild city. Here are a few tips and must do’s and dont’s in one of America’s most haunted cities! I went with one of my best friends and we managed to do and see a lot despite going during hurricane season! It is a perfect 4-5 day getaway with a friend or your significant other.
Tips and Tricks 1. You will probably walk about 20,000+ steps (bring good shoes) a day adventuring the city, most is walkable, just be careful as night and be aware of areas to avoid 2. We stayed at The Omni Royal, on America’s list of top historic hotels, it was incredible. Friendly staff, beautiful building, and we got an amazing deal on Expedia (flights + hotel = $400 each) 3. We went during hurricane season.. when huricane Harvey was near. We were okay, but would suggest going a different time! Also August is hotter then Haiti. We made the best of it! 4. Go to the haunted above ground cemetery’s, they are cool and kinda creepy. Especially because we saw a black cat! Eeek. 5. Go to a fortune teller in the main square, hit up a voodoo shop, and do a haunted ghost tour! Use GetYourGuide for ghost tour deals 6. Our got rained out.. but go on an alligator swamp tour! You can even feed the gators.. then go eat fried gator nuggets for lunch 😏 7. K Pauls Kitchen, Johnny’s PoBoys, and ACME oyster house excellent choices for dinner or lunch! 8. Church’s, haunted buildings, hotels, stores, streets galore. Spooky 9. Ride around in mule drawn carriage and get a history lesson 10. My friend and I would give a firm pass to the Natchez Jazz Boat tour.. we were also “hangry” because we thought our $50+ each ticket included food.. it did not 😖 11. There will be a line but go to the REAL Cafe Du Monde. The weekends insane, but Monday or Tuesday you will be served quick and leave covored in delicious powdered sugar goodness 12. There are ton of artsy and trendy shops in the square for unique finds 13. If you like Karaoke, check out The Cats Meow! 14. Obviously go party on Bourbon St, with a large hurricane drink in your hand 15. Take the Trolly (a few bucks) to The Garden District and check out gorgeous mansions 16. Get travel insurance if you want to get a great deal and go during “off season” aka hurricane season, it was a blast, but you have to cover your butt 17. Mardi Gras Im sure is an even more crazy fun time, but I was plenty happy with the amount of craziness we endured on our trip 18. Many MANY museums, but they are closed on Monday’s, plan ahead 19. SHRIMP.. eat ALL the shrimp 20. It Bachelorette party city out there. It is one of the top new spots next to Vegas and Nashville! They have strong drinks, beads, and mechanical bulls.
Conclusion
Go Check Out NOLA! I wouldn’t make it a yearly trip (my liver thanks me), but its a must see in a lifetime without a doubt.
