Spotlight: Los Angeles, CA

Soak up the California sun and see what it has to offer!

Los Angeles is an incredible place full of so many diverse people, ESPECIALLY noting those from all over working to catch their big break and make a name for themselves. I really enjoyed LA and all it had to offer from sunshine and beaches, unique food, outdoor adventures, and more. I went on a trip with a best friend to visit a great friend from college who moved to pursue his acting career. Check out my fast facts and fun finds below before your next trip to LA

Highlights

  1. Beaches.. BEACHES.. and more beaches. Malibu, Venice, Santa Monica, Hermosa, etc. Santa Monica was my fav, fun beachside restaurants and beachside bars. Venice was more “artsy” and a more “hipster” vibe.

  2. Santa Monica pier is a fun spot to kill some time. Ride the ferris wheel and see amazing views.

  3. Go channel your inner Beverly Hill housewife at Villa Blanca. Ask for Lee as your server, he is awesome.

  4. Go do The Warner Bro’s tour! Was so cool to see the behind the scenes AND actual filming sets. My favorite being at Ellen’s stage and sitting on the Friend's couch!

  5. Church Key is a great trendy restaurant for sharing unique small plates with a group

  6. You have to go to Hollywood. It’s quiet dirty and people dressed in spiderman costumes will want to take pictures with you, but its fun to go see all the street Stars, stroll passed the Scientology building, shop, and fan girl hoping to catch a glimpse of a celebrity. I saw zero, boo!

  7. Hike! Go hike to the the observatory and act like you are in La La Land. You can see the Hollywood sign. It is the Griffith Park trail.

  8. Many museums and sculptures to seek out fir a photo op!

  9. Stroll down Rodeo drive and walk through Tiffany’s and Gucci like you own the place

  10. Cool bars! Go to Good Times at Davey Wades bar for a unique 70’s vibe.

  11. Downtown Hermosa Beach has a fun, younger bar scene

  12. We Uber’d everywhere and  Uber is surprisingly cheap. $11 to get to Venice Beach... $11!!!

  13. We went to In-And-Out Burger. It was our first stop. It was just okay, but I LOVE and am picky about burgers. Look up their “secret” menu to spice it up!

  14. LA traffic is no joke. Leave early for the airport or reservations

  15. The Grove is a cute outdoor mall, and they often film shows (AKA the Bachelor) there or celebs visit for signings (Jessie James Decker, fan girling!!!!)

  16. LA is huge and very spaced out. There are many neighborhoods to see and all with different vibes and personalities

  17. We did not go, but next time I’m hoping to check out Malibu for a swanky brunch and to see a winery that has giraffes. I repeat giraffes! That drive would require a car. It is called Malibu Wine Safari's.

  18. We did not go, but go get hot dogs and beer and see a Dodgers Game!

  19. If we had more time there are other great tours. Check out Groupon and Travelzoo to save a few bucks!

  20. Things are more pricey in CA, but all is worth it for great experiences. Corners can be cut, utilize the deals sites. Groupon, Expedia, Hotwire, Travelzoo are my go to’s and can even help you on brainstorming what looks fun to do

  21. I’d love to go back and see a Jimmy Kimmel show or Ellen filming, but they are pretty hard to get tickets for (unless you’re a wizard). Would be an awesome time i’m sure though, and a check off the bucket list.

Have a great time!
