Spotlight: Denver, CO

The Mile High City! A MUST SEE.

Oh, Denver! A beautiful place. I can’t wait to go back, especially in the warmer months. We went in February and had weather as cold as 14 and snowing, then the next day 60 and sunny. It’s a gamble, but a great one. I went on a Bae-cation with my boyfriend to visit friends and family, we’d highly (bad word usage, we did not partake) suggest it. Check out my highlights and places to check out in Denver, CO!

Highlights

  1. We stayed at hotel Warwick, newly renovated (our room was a week old), free happy hour drinks, walking distance to downtown, great service, a rooftop (HEATED, bring your suit even in winter) pool, all for a GREAT price. I found awesome deals on Hotwire. Under $300 each for a weekend including flights.

  2. Many tasty brunch spots. Hi Rise, Snooze AM, Spring Cafe, and Call.. are all wonderful. Worth the wait!

  3. For great views and appetizers overlooking DT and mountains and drinks, check out Peaks Lounge and The Hyatt Regency

  4. Concerts galore. Next time we go back we are making The Red Rocks Amphitheater (concert venue tucked into a mountain = goals) a priority along with many other downtown venues

  5. Steuben’s is a fun retro restaurant. Many food options! I tried the Lobster roll, cause why not?

  6. The airport is about 30 minutes from downtown so plan accordingly! We Uber’d, but you can take a train

  7. Bring clothes to layer, the weather fluctuates a lot and we had a 20 degree day then a 60 degree days in February (was GREAT)

  8. There’s a huge downtown mall and various shopping near 16th street. It is more chain type companies on that street. There are numerous boutiques in Laramier square.

  9. Down 16th St there is a FREE shuttle for those chilly days. Hop on!

  10. Union Station is beautiful and has shopping, coffee, food, and flowers

  11. Coors field for the baseball team the Rockies is right downtown and there is bar galore (many with rooftops), and food trucks in that area, known as “Lodo” So go party, then food trucks to end the night.

  12. Brewery after brewery! Many great options. We tried 10 Barrel, Woods Boss, Great Divide, and Wynkoop. Cheers! Wynkoop was my fav!

  13. Next time we are back we are going for a hike to soak up great views

  14. Skiing is an option but you will need to go well outside of downtown Denver for that. Check out Groupon for deals off lift tickets and rentals.

  15. Blake St Tavern is HUGE and has games, many tv’s, multiple levels, and a good selection of food and drinks. Also voted in 2017 as one of the top bars in the NATION

  16. Retro Room a bar has a huge (Donald trump “HUUUGE”) selection of shots and one being a pickle shot. To make it even grosser/badass they can throw a baby scorpion in your drink.

  17. The Bronco’s stadium and amusement park are walkable, but a bit of a hike through downtown and The University of Denver, BUT the view walking back is worth it

  18. Book worms delight. Check out Tattered Covers Bookstore!

  19. Get yourself clothes at Patagonia, North Face,  or Marmot so 1. you dont look like an outcast and 2. they have great stuff

  20. Uber is great if you want to stick downtown, but next time we may rent a car a few days to venture out into the more “naturey” area. We are thinking convertible, blast music, and see great views.

  21. You will feel super out of shape, the elevation is real being 5000+ up and elevation sickness can happen. Drink lots of water! Sorry.. my nurse side is coming out

  22. Lots of tasty local coffee shops, many insta-worthy lattes! 📷️

  23. There are numerous marijuana dispensaries (its legal, duh) if you are into that sort of thing, me however am NOT #partypooper 📷

  24. We walked 22,000 steps one day and saw so much. Bring good shoes, skip the Uber, and get some steps in

Have fun, be safe, EXPLORE!
