6 Things To Do in Orange Beach, AL

One of my favorite places in the entire US. Pack up your beach towel, sunblock, and a cold drink and get down to Alabama and see the white sand beaches yourself.

The Redneck Riviera or Orange Beach is truly one of my favorite places. My family and I made memories there and continue to many years later. It is the perfect combination of costal and southern charm for a reasonable price. I would advise everyone I know to go kick their feet up and enjoy themselves on Alabama.

  1. Rent a Pontoon! We rented from Wallace Boat Rentals. They have boats for cruising and even some with slides off the back! Plan ahead, they fill up fast! We rented for 5 hours. Cruised around Ono Island looking at beautiful beach front homes. We dropped anchor by a sandbar and floated around in tubes, blasted music, had lunch, and had drinks with many other boats. Was a blast!

  2. Go to the Flora-Bama! A massive bar, bands, beach, and history! Kenny Chesney sings about it. Go during the day for Bingo and win prizes. Get a famous “Bushwhacker” drink!

  3. Deep sea fishing! We loved deep sea fishing with Triple Trouble Charters out of Orange Beach. We caught tons of Red Snapper. We have enough to feed us for weeks! You can have your catch prepared at many local restaurants. We chose Fin and Fork and they exceeded our standards! AMAZING. We saw tons of dolphins and you get a boat ride. Take lots of Dramamine if you are prone to sea sickness like me! It's no joke when you are a few hours out.

  4. Eat local! We ate so much seafood, Im currently going through withdrawals. Fin and Fork was one of our favorites, great unique menu and will cook your catch if you go deep sea fishing. Docs Seafood Shack had delicious fried seafood, plan ahead because the wait is long (but worth it). We ordered out and ate on our balcony overlooking the beautiful ocean. Blalocks has the best fresh seafood that you can buy and cook. We devoured the fresh gulf shrimp!

  5. Enjoy the perfect white sand beaches! There is truly nothing better than the beaches in Alabama. Whether its swimming, jogging, walking, building sand castles, tanning.. you will enjoy yourself. Go on a night walk along the beach and bring a flash light and a net.. you might be able to join in on the fun of “crabbing” on the beach. We had some great laughs! A little vitamin sea is good for the soul.

  6. Post up at a beach front, outdoor bar! The Gulf and The Hang Out are really unique spaces where you can hear live music, play games, grab a drink, bite to eat, while getting sand on your feet! You get to still enjoy the beautiful ocean and have that perfect costal vibe from a bar. The Hang Out is part of Hangout Fest which hosts big name bands every year and is one of Gulf Shores biggest attractions.

-Transportation: Fly into Pensacola Airport. A teeny tiny airport, but an hour from Orange Beach. I ubered to the condo from there and it was very easy! If you pack heavy and plan to bring a lot of stuff driving is reasonable as well. Ubers are easily accessible, but its nice to have a car!

-Accommodations: Stay in a beautiful condo or house right on the water through VRBO or Airbnb. We most recently stayed at The Turquoise Place and it is wonderful and beautiful. Multiple pools, lazy river, bar on site, right on the beach, and a central location.

I will forever call Orange Beach one of my favorite vacation spots! Go check it out yourself to understand why its the best spot for families of all ages and a great combination between relaxation and put on your party pants. Its growing like crazy there and becoming more desirable every year that goes by. Get ahead of the curve!
